Try right behind where the waves start to break on the outer bar at the pier and around the fish cleaning table tonight or just outside the lights in those areas.

For that muddy surf try 1"x2" pieces of fresh bluefish on a double fireball rig if you can catch one, maybe try the finger mullet if that's what you got as fillets or cut up on small hooks.
