Boy, I'll tell ya what a nasty ocean that was today and all weekend.. In all my 20 years of coming to the OBX, I cant remember seeing it that rough where the waves were breaking at the bottom of the stairs coming over the dunes. Sunday, the wife and I made a day trip down to Hatteras. When we got to Rodanthe, the road was flooded over from where the waves had crashed through and on Highway 12. Traffic was moving at a snails pace through the water, but later learned on the way back north they closed the road for a few hours for another break in the dune...INCREDIBLE!! Then on Monday, I had planned on one last walk down the beach to Outer Banks Pier with my dog and as soon as I got to the top of the dune all I could say is "holly sh^^ and "WOW" I really feel for the homeowners who have built right on the sand dunes. I saw on the news a few houses had fallen in down the way... This also brings to attention how important the protective sand dunes are to the Outer Banks. Without them there would be alot more houses lost.

We never did go fishing and when the Oregon Inlet charter boats don't go out, you know how rough the ocean really is.. Be Careful and as always Safety First!
