I'm on top of an underground freshwater river that flows through the sand, this flows at an angle from the west side of the bypass in Kitty Hawk and exits into the ocean at Helga Street. The water pumping station was built on top of it on the other side of the bypass, they don't use the water from there. My property values and neighbors were kept extremely low like low end car prices and I always believed the reason was because the county wanted the property to expand the pumping station. Instead they got the property behind it and built another big ground level tank, right after they finished building it my property value went up 10x the value. I asked why this changed and was told it was under valued. I think they just want to be sitting on top of the water supplies even if not used.

I used to drink the water from a shallow well on the side of the front yard before there was water lines. I found a good deal on a hand pump awhile back and one of my projects is to get the well working again without power in case I or anybody else needs water like after a hurricane.
