You must be talking about the pound nets. There are several in the vicinity. However, they are not always fishing them. In other words, if they don't string the nets, the fish just swim by. When they do have them working, the fish are still alive when they check them. If not the target species, the fish get a chance to swim away. These guys catch a bunch of fish, but no more than anyone else commercially. Regardless, there are still a lot of fish caught in the sounds on both sides of Roanoke Island by recreational anglers. I fish these areas on a regular basis and do well.
