In yer enthusiasm for the subject, don't forget what you post is here is not private. Just remindin...
Sorta on subject, back in the day, inner city, this Capt about 10. Livin day to day. Poor but not aware of it. Playground was cemetery across the street (lots of stories bout that for another "doldrum" day). One way to pass time was to dig holes. Doin that at edge of unused garage out back and about 12" down found a Chinese Hoo Poo and a bronze letter opener from the Chicago Exposition, circa 1909.
And another, same time period. Friends family were renters, w/ apartment garages outback. Adjacent to the driveway was a 30" wall covered w/ stucco. Sittin on it one day w/ our Cokes, bangin heels of our PF flyers against face of the wall. Thin stucco face began to crumble revealin brick underneath and the best part...all denominations of coins fell out. They were btw the stucco and the brick. Anywhere we kicked more stucco off and more coins. Did a lot of kickin. Really caught hell as wall property of apartment building owner. Friends dad had to repair all the damage. Back then a penny was a penny, and a penny was = price of penny candy. Loaded up at the corner store that day. No doubt was numismatic find. We were kids...what did we know?
