I use braid on both of my surf rods. Use 50LB test which has the same diameter as 15LB. Cast just as far if not farther. The only difference to me is it doesn't stretch like mono. If you get a hit, don't jerk the rod to set the hook. Lightly take in the slack. The fish will set its own hook. You feel every hit. Takes a little getting use to.
