That's a good question, I was wondering the same thing. Memorial Day is usually the time you start seeing the beach tourist. I would think that economic impart would be on the bait and tackle shops, but some of the tourist could care less about driving on the beach to fish if they were staying any where north of Oregon Inlet. I think economic impact will be felt on those businesses south of Oregon Inlet more towards Hatteras Island but it will take a few years to be demonstrated due to most tourist will not know that the beaches are closed until they get to the Outer Banks for their vacations. This is only my opinion!! I was wondering though if there was any obvious economic impact demonstrated from the memorial day weekend?? I think that the ones whom own the fishing charter boats will start to see a boom in their businesses due to the lack of beach access. Maybe I should buy a big fishing charter boat. Hmmmmm
