May have mentioned here before...grandfathers work shop was in an unused, unheated garage. He never learned to speak English or drive. Made his own stains and glue from horse hoofs.

His Christmas gift from this Capt was always a carton of Pall Mall cigarettes. He passed from multiple medical problems, not smoking.

Brings back lots of memories like pulling back door over outside walk down stone steps to grandmas Mason jarred goods storage area, picking sour cherries while robins doin the same, sleepin over in bed made totally of down/feathers. Simpler times, better times.
