This Capt and crew made 1st trip 1981. This years trip will be 44 years in a row.

Have posted here many times a paradise then is now a Chamber of Commerce nightmare.

Back in 80's started in Duck, then Whalehead, then HI Waves, Salvo and Rodanthe, and last year Rodanthe, Buxton and Kitty Hawk.

Early on memories Duck and Whalehead 80's till 2000:

Never locked house.
Never locked the car.
No phones or TV.
Kids allowed out alone.
Horses under the house.
Hour long electrical storm, bolts all over house/beach.
40-50 fish in surf each morning and nite (Capt + 2 sons).
Handlin "Star Gazers" w/o gettin shocked.
Bein mistaken for "devil worshipers" on this Capt's birthday
Keeper shells all over the place.
Dunes pristine.
Guard in shack on 12 north.
Whalehead Club pristine.
1st rental Co. = Real Escapes. Only 1 pic of house, hand drawn, in brochure. 4 bedroom week rent = $450. Olde Duck Beach.

Rain yesterday in 50's, this morning 1" of snow.
