Better check the expiration date too. I picked up a Miracle Whip at the Dollar General about 3 weeks ago did not check the date.

So I opened it still did not check the date and it had a crust around the edge and looked yellow and smelled just like cardboard.

Then I checked the expiration date had expired in May threw it in the trash. I guess it is Duke's Mayonnaise country around here.

I learned the hard way a couple of times if mayonnaise reaches the expiration date open in the refrigerator I throw it in trash.

I have been splurging some on the small roadside market since it's that time of year so one has been getting some great tomatoes.

Local grown Purple Cherokee, Pink Lady and big red regular tomatoes been eating them plain with salt and BLT sandwiches with them.

They had a big bin of small dark green sugar baby watermelons for $7 and a regular kind for cheaper neither of the bins lasted long.

I think the same for regular pumpkins $5.99 there and at Food Lion and Walmart they had a big bin of smaller size pie pumpkins for $7.

The neighbors grew some pumpkins by their chicken coop this year and did well one turned out to be 50 pounds watermelons didn't do good.

I have not come across any good peaches this year, all have been hard with no smell even went to the orchard this past week and was same.

Their apples were starting to come in they had a lot of Gala and Honeycrisp some nice looking Red Delicious apples so I got a bag of them.

Plenty of jellies and jams, I got my favorite seedless black raspberry. Honey was a real dark wildflower and a light Appalachian sourwood.

If your bargain hunting at the grocery store the hams have been a good deal lately. I've bought two smaller crockpot size hams recently.

I don't like the glaze pack that comes with them I cook it in the crockpot with a little water and just coat the top good with brown sugar.
