Thursday morning ... Hot, water like bath water & Light wind out of the SSE. Hardly any waves. Could really see the holes. Still have the seaweed around but at least you can see where its at. Second slough out was pretty much full of it. Spent a few hours bouncing fish bites around looking for some more flounder and managed only a few spot and a mullet. Watched some breaking bait out beyond casting range. Seemed like the dolphins were on them within minutes and put an end to that in a hurry. Went back later about an hour before sun set. Wind switched from the east but water like glass. Watched a huge school of bait just cruise south without anything chasing them. Girl about 1000' down the beach caught a small ribbon about 20". I went back to my hole and pulled out about 25-30 spot & mullet with one puffer fish. Bite quit after the sun went down & the tide went out. I was using these small circle bait hooks and I was less than impressed. There was too much circle to the hook. Was way more difficult removing the hooks than the normal 'J' hooks.
Friday morning there was a stiff NE wind that was perfect for drum but there was just way too much grass in the water. Fished the near shore slough for a bit. Caught a couple spot and called it a week. I used both real and artificial bloods all week. When I went to the bait cooler I had one blood worm left in the bag. planned that about right. Might make a trip in October if everything falls into place.
When we left to come down here, the cooler temps made the garden spring back to life. I planted some beans late so I should have a bucket full when I get back. The squirrels have gotten almost all my tomatoes. Despite my 4 plants being 6-7 ft high, I've gotten about 8 tomatoes and a handful of cherries. gotta figure out how to curb that.
