Hookem: Sorry just saw your post asking about Mid-October. I've been heading down about that time for the last 6-7 years and have had mixed results, but is by far my favorite time of year to go down and fish. I take a truck load of firewood and basically stay out on the beach from dawn to dusk, build a fire, fish, cook out, have a few beverages and enjoy the peach and quit. I usually go down to the Roanthe/Salvo/Waves area and the beaches are wide open during the week. Like all fishing everything depends on the weather and the winds, but the size of the fish are much better than the Summer months and I've caught everything from Cod to Mid 40" Drum from the Surf. When I did try fishing up north I had to get a daily fire permit and if the winds were to high they would not issue them. Rentals are also very reasonable for that time of year especially if you have a bunch of guys going and split the costs. I usually don't book my place till 2-3 days before I plan on going so I can see what the weather is like. Because there are so many places unoccupied that time of year it's not real hard to find a place on short notice. But I'm hoping if the weather cooperates to be down there the Week of Oct. 14th. The morning and evening tides for that week look very favorable. Good Luck.
