Hey Texas- Yes they do catch specks in the surf in NC, and some nice ones at that. The fall run can be real good. I use a double rig with 2" grubs/saltwater jigheads on heavy mono that works well. I know they use live shrimp a lot on the Gulf Coast but hard to find up here. I fished some private piers down there near Corpus and Port A and they sold the shrimp right there. What a set up. Lights and everything. That was some fun. I go every fall to Nags Head NC for the fall run and it is fun too.
