I like the survival stuff, too. I read most of another one of Shackleton's books , can't recall the name. He was good at keeping his men alive , which is something in the weather they faced. "The Last Voyage of the Karluk" is another good one , but in the Arctic and with loss of half the crew crossing sea ice. The ship's Captain was Bartlet , I think. It was a scientific and geographic expedition , and the head scientist was a real ass , abandoning the ship and crew to do the research.
That's the place on Everest I saw the picture of. On the news today , 4 climbers died attempting the summit or at least on Everest. I just caught the end of it.
I'd much rather have my toes in the sand and a fishing rod in my hand... :)
