New to surf fishing

Living on the Texas coast for several years I have learned from experience what to use for flounder reds and specks fishing in the bays. I never did try surf fishing there. What are the suggested rods and reels for surf fishing the Carolina coast? I would prefer to stick with spinning over casting ( I still backlash some with my Ambassadeur). I also need to keep the cost to around $250 max but prefer around $200 for the set.In al my reading and inquiries at tackle stores I get such varying info. My surf fisshing range will be from Corolla to Murrell's inlet, with the Wilmington and Myrtle Beach areas as most oftenfished. My target species would be anything biting but would love to hook a bull red or some nice stripers or Blues. I have figured out some bait rigs and lures but any input on that would be welcome too. Hope to see you fishing sometime.
