Was down July 19 through 22. My son and I did a bit of crabbing on the pier system under the Washington-Baum bridge and the Fishing Unlimited pier. Caught quite a few, but only a few keepers. Fished off the W-B pier, caught croakers and a few other small fish. Fished Jennetts pier, caught spot, croaker, mullet and my son brought in a keeper crab that actually hung on the entire way from water to the deck.
We tried the surf a few times, but the westerly winds kept the water cold, only brought in a bunch of sea grass.
We made a trip down to Hatteras and climbed up the lighthouse. I took my binocs, hoping to check out diamond shoals, but a squall had the area covered.
All-in-all, a good trip. Is there such a thing as a bad trip to the 'Banks? We did check out some of the ramps going down to Hatteras, and I'm thinking we need to get some kayaks to launch into the sound. What do you think?
Best regards to all, Jeff
