Memorial Day Weekend *PIC*

I have a fishing club at school this year and we had a pier fishing trip on Saturday. It was freezing and windy. The water was rough and brown. We caught a few sea mullet, a few spotted hakes, and quite a few skates. All kids had fun.
My son and his girlfriend fished with me on Sunday. We struggled with a pretty strong NE wind but picked up a few trout.
Yesterday (Memorial Day)the ocean was slick calm so we went out of Oregon Inlet with a couple of chum bags looking for sharks. The water was 70 but dirty so we went south to the boiler wreck. We trolled clark spoons but had no hits. We hit green clear water but the temperature dropped to 63 degrees. We went out to the artificial reefs and put out the chum. We caught one blacktip and had a bait mangled. I kept on seeing fish break here and there but didn’t want to leave the slick. On the way back in I spotted more fish breaking and investigated. I slid up close and killed the motor. A second later the boat was surrounded by green torpedoes – big False Albacore. I threw out a gotcha and hooked up to a screamer. We found them four more times and hooked up again. A great end to a slow day.
