Fishing and crabbing

Hi All I am coming down from VA to do some fishing and crabbing. I will be staying in Nags Head from 08.09 - 08.16.

I planned on bringing my boat but it seems like a boat isn't necessary but I am sure it will open more water to me.

I would like to catch some flounder or speckled's. ( I read the flounder post).

I planned on buying some fish bites and gulp shrimp and gulp sand worms. Any advice on color they are hitting on?

I think I will be using the Avalon Drive boat launch.
Any advice on anything. This is my first year with a boat.
Fishing has change also much now for me.

I would be more then willing to take someone out that might know some spots in trade for your wonderful information.
