Sound Fishing

I am planning on trailing my boat (16 ft deep-v aluminum)to Hatteras late September for a weeks vacation on the island. I will be staying in the Avon area. Where is the best place to catch trout and flounder in the sound? Last year 's vacation (without boat) at Hatteras I was told to fish the grass around the island for trout if I brought my boat. Where exactly is this place located? Can someone give me advice please?"
