Roanoke Island

This may seem to be all over the place but here I go. In the Cumberland Gap area which includes parts of eastern Kentucky, southwest Virginia and east Tennessee, there are a people called "The Mulungons". Many book's,lectures, etc. and money fleeced about their origins. The popular theory was that surviving members of the lost colony took Indian wives and migrated west.Problem with that one is that Mulungons have olive skin, very dark hair and dark eyes.(they do in fact stand out in an area settled by Scot's and Irish). Recent DNA samples have reviled Portuguse/African/Indian."Tri-Racial-Isolate",or in our terms"outcasts".They still to this day live in somewhat of a closed society. Keep in mind migration occurs by necessity. If I remember my history correctly, French settlers in the North Carolina low country that grew rice migrated to the gulf delta after a hurricane brined up their fields, hence"Cajin cooking". After all of that nonsense here's my theory.Roanoke Island was an actual island at that time as was Hatteras. The outerbanks/peninsula/spit as coast geologists refer to it may have not been there.Ever think about how the ships got there to begin with? The Lost Colony was simply wiped out by a noreaster or a hurricane. Not a very romantic ending but that's my theory.Brain tired now,eat go to the rack. Rodney
