I have a friend who has fished around Pensacola several times. I'll ask him what time of year he went.

The few times he's been , Kings and spanish were caught , just about every cast using frozen finger mullet or live bait. If I remember correctly the locals were just casting a skirted mackerel rig , rather than using a two rod setup for pin rigging like we do on the OBX. The way he talked , there wasn't time to mess with an anchor rig - just toss a bait out and get bit. I think he kept running out of bait and having to go to the pier house , then losing his spot at the rail.
