Actually thats my favorite time of the year to fish for Spot and Croaker's. It seems for the past years that the spot and croaker run is in full swing this time of the year. I mainly fish for these fish from the piers or surf. Get some Double rig set ups, with some number 3 or 4 shell hooks and by plenty of blood worms, or use fish bite blood worms or fish bite shrimp. The fish bite's last longer but sometimes these fish just prefer the real things. Have fun, fishing in September is a very nice thing to do at the OBX. Please read carefully all beach driving signs for there have been changes in some of the beach access driving areas over the last 6 months. Good Luck!! Peace, Debbie
