There was a crowd close to the pier this morning, I couldn't tell if they were doing anything. It was trout and bluefish hitting that rig yesterday, nothing then one on each hook at the same time and others weren't doing much. The hooks are kind of small, some were coming off. Anyway I didn't want to say anything.

I watched them pull in a beach net early this morning, they had variety of fish, 2-3 pound trout, mixed size bluefish, big spot but not yellow bellies, big croaker, big northern sea mullet, menhaden, small black drum, small puppy drum, spiny blowtoads. A lot of halves and heads in the net. Mostly trout and bluefish in it. They set up right where the crowd of trucks were at yesterday on the north side of Avalon Pier so you might want to keep your rod down when reeling in and throw a rag over the fish when unhooking them in this area.

I think you picked a good time for fishing, also is a chili cookoff if your interested.
