The trees have been peaking color around the first week of November in this area. The upper 50s at night is as low as it has got at the beach so far this fall and for me that's cold with the wind blowing. The ocean tends to keep the air warmer during the fall than the mainland, above freezing often in the winter, chilly and foggy during the spring.
I'm still getting tomatoes and peppers but the salt spray from all the northeast wind lately doesn't have them looking good. I had a time with the birds eating the tomatoes this past summer until some bluejays moved in and ran everything off, they apparently don't like tomatoes more interested in pine cones.
Also got a basket full of small local tomatoes that looked like they came out of someone's garden here for $3 at the Tarheel produce stand in KDH, they were getting ready to close for the season last weekend and were trying to get rid of them.
The ocean was rougher this morning. I saw somebody trying it and was holding bottom, he had to move from the middle of the beach up near the dunes because of the waves.
Re: Stop-N-Shop, the owners probably retired for what they got for it.
