Lots of different opinions out there , and it can even depend on what you're trying to catch. Some people like Low tide for trout and flounder , is one example I can think of.
For the most part , I prefer 2 hours before through 2 hours after High tide. This covers incoming and outgoing tides , plus it means you're fishing when there is the most water.
Honestly , I fish when I can , but the fish do seem to bite better around high tide.
I was at Chincoteague in June and they had some of the highest and lowest tides of the year happening. During high tide , the water would be out in the road. At low tide the bay would be dry ground out for about 100 feet or so. It was a difference of something like 4 feet of water , and one of the more pronounced tide cycles I've seen.
Caught a lot of these guys around high tide , didn't even bother fishing low tide because the water was only a foot or so deep.
