I've always enjoyed playing those types of games. Always nice to have a story about the one that got away.

My poor son , has a story about the one that daddy cut the line on - he managed to snag a Manta Ray about 8 ft. wide from the pier , and I cut it off when I saw what it was before he spooled it. New line on one of my good (but smaller) rods...didn't want to leave the fish with 300 yards of mono following him :) For a while , there was a gigantic Manta hanging out around the inner bar at the Rodanthe Pier. I'm talking 15-16 feet wide with a 10 ft long tail. I assume people were bottom fishing on his back , cause he didn't move around much. I saw him swimming 2 or 3 times , hell of a fish.

I've really had the urge to tangle with a big shark lately , but just don't think I'm up to it.
