I'm against the closures and am sure the financial impact will be felt but the bottom line on all of this is the beaches are over crowded with vehicles and that the reason why all of this is going on the bird thing is just the catalyst to getting it together . It eventually was going to over run the birds and turtles all together, I believe they are just trying to thin things out ,
The economical status is base on what they are use to make, but if you look at the books from 10 or 15 years ago I’m sure they will still be making more today then they were back then and they are just basing their losses on last year or the year before profits. Although every one wants to make a better living I think this all has to do with progress .
We have simply run out of room for all these vehicles on the beach and some thing needed to be done unfortunately I’m not a tree hugger or bird hugger either but I can see this this problem growing for years . Maybe the price of gas will change this all and we can get back to the way things use to be ,
One solution I think might work is to sell permits to drive on the beach, I know I don’t want to see this but it certainly would cut back on all the people who are just out there getting in the way if the people who really want to fish, I doubt a tourist will pay just to drive on the beach when they can go for free by walking over a dune. I know I come down almost 4 weeks a year and paying for a permit wouldn’t be that much of a impact.
Too bad it had to come to this but something need to happen , I’ll keep coming as long as I can throw a lure
