That's a big part of what has always bothered me about the protections granted to plovers on the islands. I'll always think that if a species can't support high double digits or even 100 individuals ,it's time has came and passed - especially if it's a species that is immensely more successful further north. You get into falsely supporting populations of birds or even other wildlife when too much human intervention decides their fate.
