Fishing Report 4-9-12

I am off from teaching school and enjoying my spring break this week. Hey, what do you know? The wind is blowing. Will it ever stop?
I am landlocked today but still catching fish. My fishing area is in and around Oregon Inlet, the adjoining sounds, and the oceanfront. There is a pretty good bite from some bottom fish at most piers along with a few Bluefish here and there.
The Roanoke sound is producing some very nice Specks but with the full moon, the bite is over at first light. There are a lot of short ones being caught as well. I fished by the Little bridge yesterday and after the trout bite ended, I put a crappie jig on a dropper loop ahead of my trout setup and wore out some very athletic 14 and 15 inch Hickory Shad.
There is also a good bite of school sized rockfish being caught 30 miles west of here near Columbia. If the wind cooperates, I’ll fish over there later in the week.
Have a good one and I’ll keep you all posted of the fishing around here.
