I fished out of Deltaville, VA this past Saturday and caught a few stripers with my son and some friends. It was a bluebird day and the water turned pretty calm. We didn’t tear them up but did manage to catch a bunch of nice fish up to 24 inches. We were totally expecting to catch school sized fish, but you never know what might bite. I happened to pick up the one rod that hooked up a big fish. It was a sweet 10 minute battle and when it was finally netted and laid on the deck, we were psyched! It was 46 inches long and weighed 43 pounds. They are catching more big fish like this way upstream in the coastal rivers. The fish are just starting to move and you know that they are coming our way sooner or later. I just hope they travel as close to Oregon Inlet as they did last year. I will post a full report of my bay trip on my blog and will post a link later.
