Coming week of 10/16

A couple of us are headed down there for our first fall fishing/golfing trip. We normally go in July and fish for whatever off the end of the pier at night (rays,sharks).
So will there be shark around then? Is it acceptable to fish for them off beach since I am assuming that there won't be swimmers?

And what else can we catch or should we try to catch? We like fish that put up a little fight?
