Last year was my first experience at surf fishing and the folks on this board are top notch and will fill you in on the best way to go about things. My first year down I fished off the pier and didn't do too well. I'm right handed and was given a left handed reel when I rented it. The handle broke off when I set the hook and I lost the only bite I had trying to hand line the fish in.

Last year I caught a mixed bag including a 27" plus red, an 18" flounder, a blue, a pompano and an errant seagull that flew into my line. Mostly I bottom fish with cut bait. Didn't have any luck with the bloodworm fish bites.

We'll be down the same week so if you look north on the beach and see a short fat guy tending a rod that will be me. Feel free to join my son and me if you wish.
