Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish early and late every day , yesterday was great with blues up to 2-3 lbs. and some of the biggger Spaniards. Spots , Pompano , Spadefish , a few scattered Triggerfish , small schools of False Albacore (only a few caught , mainly snagged by accident) , Pinfish , Pigfish and 1 stray sea bass. Skates , Rays and the odd Dogfish. Heard about a Tarpon hooked last week by one of my pier rat friends , live baiting didn't pay off for me or anyone else this week , but we did see a couple of Cobia early in the week. I had something break the wire on one of my NEW gotcha's yesterday. It was a big fish , I have no idea what it was.
Every bait (real and artificial) I tried worked at some point , but I didn't use cut bait much because of the Rays. The spinners I mentioned last week are certainly worth trying on a cloudy day when the fish want something with a little flash.
Getting ready to steam some crabs and shrimp and do a few shrimp on the grill. Hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend! :)
Might have reports from the further north over the next few days.
