Surf Fishing in the OB

Hi Yall, My family will be vacationing in Rodanthe during the week of August 20-27th. It's prob our last family vacation due to my siblings getting married and now starting families so My father Brother and future Bro-In-Law are excited to do a little surf fishing and hopefully catch enough to make a nice seafood dinner. What is my best bet bait wise and what seems to be running? Thanks and can't wait to return to the OB! It's been 6 yrs.!
