To answer your question - popped a Caffine Free Pepsi immediately after. (Quit all alcohol on return from SE Asia.)

Apparently you like sufferin human stories. Here's another.

1300 hrs and really a baker on the beach. Ideal nap time for those who have "paid their dues". Suddenly awake to "Dad come quick, XXXXXXX (daughters name withheld) stepped on a big hook in the surf."Get there and see NJ Fire Capt carrying daughter down beach. Big crowd. (Capt D's family always does it BIG!!) (He had carried her from where she stepped on the hook back to our crew spot on the beach - about 300 ft.)(Now this was good cause she couldn't blame me for losing the hook she stepped on - as it was 300 ft down thwe beach!!) Hook had entered ball of foot and barb was at top of foot but not thru skin. Dr. son right behind me. Has bag. Shot to numb.(Crowd even bigger by then. Could have made fortune on food and beverages.) In 3 minutes he had hook out, barb intact. (Btw, have no clue how he got the barb back thru all that meat w/no damage). Daughter was back on beach later in the evening and in the water early next AM.

Nice to have an ER doc in the family, eh??
