3/24 Report

3/24. 0645 - 1115 hrs. Ft. Lauderdale pier. Finally got son-in-law to go early AM. About 15 overniters. Fished the 1st 1/2 of pier, the part over sand, not 2nd 1/2 over the reef as in the past. Should have guessed by 0730 hrs. something was up! Pier basically empty all morning. Reason....No fish last few days!!!!!! Overniters caught a few collectively - no keepers. 0645 till departure caught 1 4lb puffer. Saw only one other caught, a 5" er. Son-in-law had a biggun on along pier edge. Couldn't get it off bottom for 1/2 minute before threw the hook. (He still will not set the hook. Lost plenty of bigguns that way). Assume waas flounder. Plenty around.
Laugh for today. Pic of this Capt w/ pelican who apparently liked posin.
Tomorrow back down courtyard to the canal early, then casino for the rest of the day. Intend to stay away from any slots w/ names related to fishing!! Can't take much more rejection:):)
Weather remains picture perfect. 80's, light winds, low humidity.
