Just from what I know you might find some blowtoads hanging around the piers during the summer and sometimes they can just show up. The best hole I ever fished was because somebody left a pile of them laying on the beach. There was no structure that you could see just deep water but I noticed later on the whole beach looked like a big mountain and that was at the peak.

I think the best way is small size 5 already snelled Eagle Claw hooks and bring plenty of extra hooks. Bloodworms are good bait, toads will eat anything if they are hungry like small pieces of cut bait, shrimp or squid.
