Striper Strategies

Not many have been fishing and lately it's been numbing cold on the beach with these low temps and breezy wind. TW's had a parking lot full of people waiting for them to open one morning, I think it was hunters.
Something to try if you just want to catch something for pullage the spineys are everywhere in the surf after dark and should be the rest of December. The stripers like to swim right behind the outer bar, you would have to find one that you can cast over and hold bottom. You might find something reachable between Ramp 2 and 4 or in South Nags Head. It's better if the water is clear not muddy. You might find the stripers with birds on them in close between Ramp 2 and 4 right at first light in the morning.
For walking over Ramp 1 and on the other side of the inlet the surf within sight of the rock jetty. Also the beach right beside the piers and at the wrecks might be worth checking out like the boiler wreck on Pea Island, first light or high tide at those places. Light northeast wind could be good, it can be rainy with that wind.
The catwalk or around the bridge at Oregon Inlet try fishing high tide with eels or cut bait 2 hours before high tide to 2 hours after high tide. Some say eels during the day, doesn't matter at night. Eels are hard to cast far in the surf.
