I actually have taken a boat and gone up in those canals and the fishing is pretty darn good if I may say so. But you have to be so very careful with the shallow waters up there. I dont know anything about taken a four wheel drive up there my self but I have a good friend whom has a cottage closest to the north end. He lives over on the Va. side and takes a boat from Knotts Island over then four wheels it to his cottage so I guess there may be some way to four wheel it up there.
