Novice needs help

We'll be in Nags Head next week. We're bringing along a pole or two with 20# test. Planning on getting out on the beach at sunrise each day. I'm thinking about using something like a bottom finder rig with whatever live bait we can catch. Do you have any tips on better rigs to use or good places to catch bait with a cast net?
