Pogie,

I'm a surf fishing baby compared to the regular posters on here. A month or so ago I posted in error that I have been using 60# for the shock leader. In reality I have been using 40# with no failures, so far. I recently watched a video on the pendulum cast where the author mentioned the weight can travel at 200mph. Searching around I haven't found any negatives to using heavier leader material. I'm going to hit the field and try my hand at Off the Ground and Pendulum casts, but don't envision using them unless the beach is empty and I think the fish are way out there. I'm going to try 60# just for some added peace of mind. A few ounces of lead colliding with flesh at any speed is going to do some damage.
