VA Beach Pier report

The wife and kids wanted to hit VA Beach this past weekend ,so I hung out at the pier. NE winds from 5-15 Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday I fished right after high tide and caught mostly spots , croaker and mullet. I saw one smooth dogfish caught. I only fished for a couple of hours , but I did hear that a lot of small croakers were caught Sat. night.

Sunday I fished from around 8 AM until an hour after high tide. My son caught spots until he was tired of fishing. After the wife and kids went to the beach , I caught 8 flounder. The two biggest were a bit over 17 inches , the rest were in the 14-16" range. No keepers. Also caught 10 or 12 little bluefish and more mullet.

Several stripers were caught under the fish cleaning table - the one I saw was probably 12-15 lbs.

Lots of big blue crabs around too. Bait thieves , but people were filling their coolers up.
