I have been living in Corolla (Crown Point) since late October and have been amazed by the variety of wildlife just outside the window. We see deer almost every day, one is 3-legged, missing back left leg, looks like it was chopped off in an accident, but gets around like it was born that way. Have seen foxes a few times at night. Saw the whale that washed up on shore and the basking shark up at the end opf route 12. And the biggest surprise came this morning, saw an otter in the pond outside. Could not tell much about it other than it was not a beaver - tail too skinny, not a rat, tail too big and long. The critter was right size, floating on it's back, then rolled over and went under. I was surprised by that one.
Anyone catching anything?? I tried this weekend from the surf with multiple rigs, cut mullet and bunker chunks, no luck. Spoke with one of the commercial guys last night. They were up at the VA/NC border yesterday and got skunked. They have today and tomorrow and the season is over. He said they might not make it out today, weather - wind and surf are not cooperating.
