Crabbing in OBX.

Can anybody tell me about crabbing in OBX? I've Googled videos and looked on Youtube, but you don't find much. Do you need a license to catch if you just throw them all back? Is the Manteo bridge a good place to crab? I'm just looking for some overall advice to take a kid crabbing for the first time.
