Fishing under the Roanoke Bridge

I am coming down to the OBX with my wife and step-daughter on June 20th. We came down last year but I didn't get to do any fishing. Well my parents are coming this year and my father and I want to do some fishing. We are planning on taking a head boat out of Manteo for a half day trip. I also plan on doing some pier fishing. I'm pretty sure I can rent the gear for that at the pier. I guess my question is do I need anything special to fish under the Roanoke bridge or will my normal gear I use up here for Large-mouth bass and walleye work? I planned on putting a little more heavy duty line on it, at least 20lb. I'm not trying to pull in any monsters by any means, I just want to catch some fish. Please help me, I leave Saturday morning :)
