To add to this if you have a chance to take the tour of the Duck pier do it.They run from mid June to mid Aug.I think they start at 10:00 daily.That's where I learned about the salt content of the sound and many other things,about the fish and wildife there. Along of course beach erosion.Best part,they are free.Good tour for kids 10 or over.
