The basics : 2 hook bottom rig , small hooks , 2-3 ounces of lead. Bloodworms , squid , shrimp or cut bait for bait. That is generally all you will need to catch fish anywhere on the Outer Banks. Experiment with different bait if the fish aren't biting what you are using.

Reading the beach is a big part of surf fishing. Use Google to search for "reading the beach surf fishing" - there's a lot of info out there. The best way to learn is by experience though. I like to find holes at low tide and then fish them at high tide.
