Check out the Albright Knot. Fairly easy to tie after you do it a few times and I've never had any significant problems with it unless I've tied it wrong.

Some people use a Uni to Uni knot or a Blood Knot for leaders , but I've always preferred the Albright. It has a smaller profile when tied correctly and goes through the guides better in my opinion.
