The spiny dog sharks have been here when the stripers are here, I guess it's a good sign the water temps are right. I was thinking it might be better at night for stripers and less sharks when the water is very clear.
You can catch bluefish at night. A northeast wind between first light and sunrise would be the best time to look for birds diving usually it's stripers sometimes it's big bluefish and sometimes it's both. The big bluefish don't really come in like they used to do, they tend to stay further offshore now for some reason.
I've also noticed in the past they like to come in at certain areas for example in Kitty Hawk it's Winks and at the Black Pelican. I don't know what it is for Corolla. The tackle shops in Corolla could tell you more for that area like Corolla Bait and Tackle or TWs if it's still there, noticed it was for sale.
