Everyone over the reef experiences same problem. No pattern...sometimes sinker, sometimes hooks. Every other cast is a break off. After about 3 - 5 rig losses most just fish under the pier and lose 1/2 their fish to the pilings.

Re: concrete sinkers. Think that'd be cheaper. Might make up a few for the next trip just to watch the expressions of other guys.

Real answer is to get to the pier about 0700 hrs. for guaranteed spot over the sand bottom. Sure I can get daughter to drop me off. Son - in - law can then arrive at his convenience.
